The Financial Stocktaking exercise conducted by Sheshadri and Kandasamy created great confusion. For 7 months, from February to August 1998, ADATS tried to clarify issues and reply to various charges.

It sparked off an organisational crisis at ADATS which had painful consequences for everyone, including a delay in the sanctioning of the ongoing 2nd Consortium budget. The Coolies decided to rally around the Core Group and kept the programme going.

The ADATS Governing Body finally stepped in to formally reject the Report and it’s recommendations. Our Chartered Accountant expressed his displeasure at the unnecessary unpleasantness that was created over non-issues.

Icco and EZE went along with their stand, but we had no choice but to request Novib to pull out of the ADATS Consortium since the spirit of partnership had been broken.
